9 Minutes to a Better You: Journaling to Transform Emotions

Releasing negative experiences and emotions through journaling is a powerful practice that helps create space for love and positivity in your life. By writing as if you’re speaking to someone who listens without judgment, you begin the process of healing. Let’s dive into how this 9-minute practice can transform your emotions and mind.

  1. Set Your Scene-(1 Minute)

Find a quiet, comfortable space with minimal distractions. Whether it’s a cozy corner in your home or a peaceful park, the environment you choose plays a key role in helping you relax and connect with your emotions.

  2. Choose Your Medium-(1 minute)

Decide whether to write in a traditional notebook or on a digital device. Choose what feels right for you. Some people find the tactile experience of writing by hand more personal, while others prefer the convenience of typing.

  3. Begin Writing-(5 Minutes)

Write as if you’re speaking to a trusted friend, expressing your thoughts and feelings openly. Focus on releasing negative emotions and experiences without self-censorship. Don’t hold back; let it flow. It’s a personal release. When I feel strong negative emotions, I often write during the full moon. I write everything down with a black pen. It helps me release the feelings and get to the heart of what’s bothering me.

  4. Reflect and Release-(2 Minutes)

After writing, read over your words while imagining the person you’re addressing sitting beside you. Have an open, honest conversation with them. Express how you feel and understand why they acted the way they did. If tears drop out that’s okay—just let it out. Once the conversation is complete, tell yourself that I forgive them, and I release these emotions. It’s time to make space for happier ones. Then, cross out the words with a red pen, tear up the paper, or burn it or dispose of it in pieces. This is how you symbolize releasing the energy. Afterward, go outside for a walk on the grass or light a candle, saying to yourself, “I forgive you, and I forget this experience,” to further release the negative energy and create space for new, happier experiences.
