Once I had my vision in mind, I broke it down into SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-based). I learned that vague goals like “I want to get healthy” don’t work because they don’t give me something clear to strive toward.

For example, instead of “I want to exercise more,” I committed to “I will exercise for 30 minutes, three times a week for the next month.” It was measurable, achievable, and relevant to my health vision. This clarity helped me stay on track and feel a sense of accomplishment each time I hit my target.

But at the same time, I had to learn to be flexible. Life happens! Some days I might not feel like working out, or I might have a busy day and skip a meal prep session. The trick is to not be too hard on yourself and to just get back on track the next day.

For me, a good routine includes morning stretching, meal prepping on Sundays, and always trying to get in 20-30 minutes of movement each day. But I also make sure I allow time for relaxation and activities that bring me joy—whether that’s reading, spending time with loved ones, or taking a walk in nature.

  1. Track Your Progress and Stay Accountable

When I started creating my plan, I knew it was essential to track my progress. I use the Fitbit app to keep track of my daily steps and workouts, and it also helps me stay motivated by showing me how close I am to meeting my goals. The app even lets me challenge friends to stay active, which adds an element of accountability.

But if an app isn’t your thing, a simple journal or checklist works too! The key is to check in on your progress regularly and adjust as needed.
